Nicholas W. Schieffelin


Nick Schieffelin is an experienced litigator focused on representation of individuals and businesses in complex litigation. Mr. Schieffelin devotes a significant portion of his practice to business litigation, products liability, and professional liability defense. Mr. Schieffelin also handles employment matters, with a special emphasis on the defense of discrimination, retaliation, ADA, ADEA, and FMLA claims.

Notable Experience:

  • Represented a Fortune 100 pharmacy chain in general litigation matters, including pharmacy malpractice, premises liability, and intentional torts.
  • Achieved favorable results for Fortune 500 companies in forums across the country defending against discrimination claims by employees.
  • Assisted in the successful representation of 11 former partners of a Massachusetts law firm in their arbitration claims arising out of their separation from the firm, recovering a multi-million dollar judgment for the partners.

Prior to joining Klinedinst, Mr. Schieffelin was an associate at Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP (now Locke Lord LLP) in Boston. There, he focused on employment law and general litigation for large national banks and a Fortune 100 pharmacy chain. Mr. Schieffelin also spent time at a premier trial firm in Boston, where he represented a diverse group of clients on a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including medical malpractice, business litigation, securities law, and complex insurance coverage. Mr. Schieffelin is an active member of the Cornell Club of San Diego alumni chapter, and an alumnus of the Hon. J. Clifford Wallace American Inn of Court.

A native Rhode Islander, Mr. Schieffelin received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 2003. In 2007, he earned his law degree cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, where he was an editor for the Suffolk University Law Review.
