Sunny S. Sarkis is an Associate in Klinedinst’s Sacramento office. In addition to business litigation, Ms. Sarkis has extensive experience representing clients in class action litigation. Much of her class action experience is focused on representing clients in matters relating to violations of the federal securities laws, including dispositive motion practice, all aspects of discovery, mediation and settlement.
Prior to joining Klinedinst, Ms. Sarkis worked for a prominent plaintiff’s class action firm representing institutional investors and private individuals in securities litigation in both state and federal courts. She also has experience litigating insurance and employment claims.
Ms. Sarkis earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she graduated with distinction in the top 9th percentile of her class. During law school, Ms. Sarkis was a Primary Managing Editor and Comment Staff for the McGeorge Law Review. She was a member of several honor societies including Order of the Coif, Dean’s Honor List, and the Traynor Honor Society. Ms. Sarkis was also the recipient of several prominent scholarships and awards at McGeorge.
Immediately following law school, Ms. Sarkis clerked for the Honorable Thomas C. Holman (Ret.) and for Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Klein in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. Accordingly, Ms. Sarkis has experience in many aspects of bankruptcy proceedings, including law and motion practice and adversary proceedings in Chapter 7, 9, 11, 12, and 13 matters.
