Petra Pilar an associate in Klinedinst PC’s Sacramento office, where her practice focuses on civil litigation, representing businesses, insurers, and individuals in complex legal matters. She brings a diverse litigation background that combines years of client advocacy in high-volume, high-stakes immigration matters with a strong foundation in insurance defense.
Ms. Pilar represents insured and self-insured clients in a broad range of personal injury and general liability matters, including negligence claims, premises liability, business and commercial litigation, employment litigation, construction, and general liability. Her practice also includes toxic tort and environmental exposure cases, including asbestos and silica-related claims, as well as product liability matters.
She manages all phases of litigation, from early case assessment through trial preparation, handling discovery, depositions, motion practice, legal research, witness preparation, mediations, and settlement negotiations. She works closely with clients, insurance professionals, and experts to develop practical, results-oriented litigation strategies.
Before transitioning to civil litigation, Ms. Pilar spent more than seven years practicing immigration law. She successfully represented clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and California family and probate courts. Her practice included asylum, deportation defense, humanitarian relief, family-based immigration, guardianships, and naturalization matters. Managing a caseload of more than 100 active matters, she developed a reputation for strategic advocacy, thoughtful client counseling, and meticulous case management.
Ms. Pilar earned her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
