Regina Ryu is Counsel in Klinedinst PC’s San Diego office and has extensive experience in appellate advocacy, juvenile dependency law, family law, and criminal litigation. She brings more than a decade of legal experience representing clients in complex and high-stakes matters, with a career spanning both the judiciary and public-sector legal practice.
Most recently, Ms. Ryu served as a Senior Appellate Court Attorney for the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One, where she drafted proposed opinions in civil, criminal, juvenile, and family law appeals. In this role, she analyzed appellate records and briefings, researched complex legal issues, evaluated appealability concerns, and provided recommendations regarding the resolution of pending cases.
Prior to joining the Court of Appeal, Ms. Ryu spent more than 11 years with Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, representing parents and legal guardians in juvenile dependency proceedings. She managed a substantial caseload involving allegations of domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health concerns, sexual abuse, and physical abuse. She regularly appeared in court for contested hearings, bench trials, and settlement negotiations, and worked closely with expert witnesses, social workers, service providers, and medical professionals.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Ryu served as a Deputy District Attorney for Inyo County and as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles, where she prosecuted a broad range of criminal matters and gained extensive courtroom and trial experience. She also volunteered with the Legal Aid Society of Orange County, assisting clients in family law matters and mentoring certified legal interns.
Regina earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was a member of the San Diego International Law Journal. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Berkeley.
