Sukhi Johal is an associate in the Sacramento office of Klinedinst PC, where her litigation practice focuses on employment law, public defense, and consumer advocacy. She brings a strong academic foundation, exceptional legal research and writing skills, and a demonstrated commitment to client service and public interest work.

Sukhi recently received her Juris Doctor at the Santa Clara University School of Law, where she earned the prestigious Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Litigation Scholarship, multiple Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence, and CALI Excellence for the Future Awards. She also received the Honors Moot Court Academic Excellence Award for achieving the highest overall grade in Moot Court and served on the Honors Moot Court Executive Board.

Professionally, Sukhi served as an Executive Assistant in the Office of General Counsel at Santa Clara University, where she managed university-wide contracts, assisted with policy development, oversaw special projects, and supported key governance committees. Her work experience includes drafting policies, maintaining legal records, and helping ensure institutional compliance across a variety of legal and operational matters.

During law school, Sukhi gained valuable litigation experience as a Summer Law Clerk at an AmLaw 100 law firm, where she worked closely with employment law attorneys on complex litigation matters. Her responsibilities included conducting legal research, drafting substantive motions, jury instructions, and memoranda addressing procedural and substantive legal issues.

Sukhi’s prior experience also includes serving as a Legal Intern in Santa Clara University’s Office of General Counsel, where she helped develop university-wide policies and compliance procedures, and as a Legal Clerk with the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office. Earlier in her career, she worked with the San José State University Record Clearance Project, assisting clients seeking post-conviction relief through legal research, client advocacy, and case preparation.
