Staff Accountant – San Diego

Take your accounting career to new heights by joining Klinedinst PC. The firm is seeking a qualified Staff Accountant who will join our San Diego-based team. As a Staff Accountant, you will work in a collaborative culture with other accounting professionals, including the Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate for this position needs to be organized, professional and committed to meet our clients’ needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare bank, credit card and other general ledger account reconciliations
  • Post general ledger transactions, credit card receipts, ACH payments, and credit memos
  • Perform month-end close in accounting software and prepare related reports
  • Prepare a wide variety of reports and special projects including, but not limited to:
    • Monthly timekeeper billable hours vs. budget reporting
    • Monthly AR aging and origination reports 
    • Monthly invoice audits, appeals, and credit memos
  • Assist in preparation of year-end reports, and annual budget with respect to expense analysis, at the direction of the CFO
  • Analyze information by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying and reconciling information and reports
  • In conjunction with CFO, maintain trust accounting including, but not limited to:
    • Prepare trust deposits
    • Enter trust cash receipts and processes trust disbursements
    • Updating trust ledgers in accounting software
  • Participate in accounts payable workflow, including but not limited to distributing payments directly from the general ledger
  • Assist in our year-end audit with financial reporting and analysis
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy and compliance of sales and use tax, property tax and other state tax filings
  • Pay range: $75,000-85,000 per year (depends on experience)

  • Respond to client and staff inquiries with accurate and timely reports to facilitate their needs
  • Communicate with partners, co-workers, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data
  • Ensure all accounting records are intact, readily accessible and safeguarded
  • Implement procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency
  • Adhere to established accounting policies and procedures
