SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – The entire Klinedinst PC family mourns the sudden loss of Donald R. McKillop and his wife Patty on May 21, 2022.
Don was one of the very first shareholders in the firm. In its early years, the firm went through several iterations of names, and many in the San Diego legal community recall the firm as Klinedinst, Fliehman & McKillop (or “KFM”). Don was an important part of the early leadership team, whose practice focused on construction law. Don was very involved in the Associated General Contractors of America, San Diego Chapter (AGCSD), and the organization recognized him twice with its prestigious AGC President’s Award in 2007 and 2019.
After leaving the firm to start his own construction law practice, Don remained close with colleagues and friends he had made at the firm. His son, Donnie, even worked as a summer marketing intern before relocating east to begin his career coaching college athletics.
“For many years, Don was truly the heart of the firm,” said John Klinedinst, Founder and Chair Emeritus. “He was such a great supporter of our staff and a brilliant lawyer, and he was responsible for kickstarting many of our great practices in the firm. Don was and will always be an important part of the legacy of our firm.”
Klinedinst joins Don and Patty’s many other friends and families in remembering these two wonderful individuals, gone too soon.
