Heather L. Rosing of Klinedinst PC was invited by the Foothills Bar Association to deliver a speech on the ins and outs of client trust accounting on January 13, 2016.
SAN DIEGO – On January 13, 2016, Klinedinst shareholder and Chief Financial Officer Heather Rosing gave a special presentation at the Foothills Bar Association’s Annual Hard-to-Get Seminar at the La Mesa Community Center.
The Foothills Bar Association asked Mrs. Rosing to give a presentation titled, “Show Me The Money: The Ins and Outs of Client Trust Accounting.” Ms. Rosing drew on her many years of experience as CFO and litigating malpractice and fraud cases to advise on this topic.
Given that attorney mishandling of clients’ money is a top complaint in both legal malpractice cases and State Bar proceedings, Ms. Rosing discussed how to deposit, account for, and disburse the clients’ money, and how to navigate the complex and technical rules for client trust accounting. She taught practical tips and topics about client trust accounts as well as covered the latest opinions and trending areas of the subject.
At this presentation, attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the advantages and perils of holding non-client funds in trust accounts and managing risk in the client trust account context.
