SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Klinedinst Senior Counsel Joanna L. Storey Mishler spoke on January 24, 2023 on the evolving topic of neurodiversity at the Hot Legal Ethics Topics CLE at The Bar Association of San Francisco.
Ms. Mishler, who serves as Vice-Chair of the organization’s Legal Ethics Committee, joined other committee leaders in discussing “Neurodiversity and Client Communications.” During the presentation, the panel also offered practical tips for negotiating thorny legal ethics issues. The presentation also included new rules for client trust accounts, the latest ethical considerations for remote practice, and new ethics rules and requirements regarding civility.
“In law firm and corporate settings, it is common to discuss diversity in outward visible ways,” said Mishler, “but what about diversity that you cannot see? We all absorb information differently, with different experiences that impact the way we think and react. Embracing neurodiversity helps companies understand and appreciate the differences in the way people’s brains work.”
The firm will be hosting its own hour-long workshop on Neurodiversity on February 15, 2023 at 1:00pm Pacific.
