Klinedinst Welcomes 2022 Summer Law Clerks

Klinedinst welcomes Derek Sturhann, Madison Kneadler, and Devynn Azevedo as Summer Law Clerks. This year’s class joins the firm from University of San Diego School of Law, California Western School of Law and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Klinedinst is pleased to welcome Derek Sturhann, Madison Kneadler, and Devynn Azevedo as Summer Law Clerks.

Derek Sturhann currently attends the University of San Diego School of Law, where he is scheduled to graduate in 2024. Mr. Sturhann is a participant in the San Diego Diversity Fellowship Program. Founded by the San Diego County Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel San Diego, the San Diego Diversity Fellowship Program introduces diverse, first-year law students to the work, requirements, and culture of top-tier law firms. Additionally, this program helps students enhance their resume credentials, make professional contacts, and gain hands-on experience.

In addition to his studies, Mr. Sturhann serves as the Treasurer for Consumer Attorneys of USD and is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association. Further, Mr. Sturhann works as a Research Assistant for several professors, and is working on the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Litigation Docket Reports Dataset to create a database of all patent lawsuits that have been filed since 2003.

Madison Kneadler currently attends California Western School of Law, where she is planning on graduating in 2023. She has ranked in the top 10% of her class. During her 2L year, the Community Law Project (CLP) selected Ms. Kneadler as a clinical intern. CLP is a California Western law school clinic that provides free legal information to low-income and indigent communities. In addition, the California Innocence Project (CIP) selected Ms. Kneadler as a clinical intern. CIP is a California Western law school clinic dedicated to freeing the innocent, training law students, and changing laws and policies in California.

Devynn Azevedo, who is based out of our Sacramento office, currently attends University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law as a Kennedy Scholar. She is planning on graduating in 2024. In addition to her studies, Ms. Azevedo is the incoming Secretary for the Womxn of Color Collective (WOCC) and a member of the Latinx Law Student Association. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Azevedo graduated with Honors from University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Psychological & Brain Sciences and a minor in Philosophy. At UCSB, she was a competing member on the Mock Trial Team, an active member of Phi Alpha Delta, and a student researcher for Dr. Zoe Liberman’s Social Cognitive Development Lab.
