Klinedinst has affirmed its support as a National Corporate Donor of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Since 2010, the firm has been making donations to the foundation on behalf of clients and employees. Last year alone, Toys for Tots distributed toys to seven million children across the country.

SAN DIEGO – This year, Klinedinst PC is pleased to once again that we will be supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Since 1947, Toys for Tots has provided toys, books, and holiday presents for millions of children whose parents may be ill or struggling financially. Last year, they distributed toys to seven million children across the country.

97% of every donation made to Toys for Tots goes directly to the purchase of toys, books, and other gifts. Only 3% is spent on fundraising expenses. Toys for Tots has continued to achieve this ratio, earning them once again a top charity ranking in the Philanthropy 400 and an accreditation by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.

“We are delighted to work with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation for the sixth straight year in a row,” said John Klinedinst, Founder and CEO. “They play such an important role spreading holiday cheer to children and their families all over the country. We are glad to be a part of this grand foundation and have the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life.”

In 2010, Klinedinst first became a National Corporate Donor, and the firm is still the only law firm in the country to provide support at the National Corporate Donor level.

SACRAMENTO – Legal news service Law360 has featured Klinedinst attorney Lindsay N. Casillas in its Expert Analysis section.

In the article, Ms. Casillas discusses the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals’ significant ruling definitively stating that Bikram Yoga’s compilation of twenty-six yoga poses and two breathing exercises known as the “Sequence,” is not subject to copyright protection. Ms. Casillas provides background on the creation of the “Sequence,” and details the basis of the Court’s decision that the “Sequence” is an idea and not the proper subject of copyright.

This ruling could have far-reaching implications on specialized gyms and exercise businesses built upon sequences, such as gyms and yoga studios. The exercise routines or processes practiced at these establishments may no longer be protected from their competition, and franchise owners who paid fees for exclusive rights may find that exclusivity significantly diminished.

SEATTLE – Klinedinst PC is very pleased to announce the official opening of its new Seattle location. Located in downtown Seattle, the office is led by Gregor A. Hensrude, and will serve business clients across the entire Pacific Northwest.

“We are incredibly pleased to be in our new Seattle home,” noted John Klinedinst, Founder and CEO of Klinedinst PC. “The entire Puget Sound region has an incredibly vibrant and diversified business community. Moving into Washington is a natural fit for us, given the complexity and sophistication of legal services that we provide clients.”

Previously, Klinedinst PC had four office locations, all situated throughout California. The firm started in 1983 in San Diego, and has grown to nearly 70 attorneys. Each of the offices is led by a managing shareholder who grew from within to hold that leadership position, and Seattle is no exception.

“As a firm, one of our core philosophies has always been to cultivate leaders from within,” added Klinedinst. “Gregor sharpened his skills in our San Diego office, and eventually rose to become one of our Shareholders. At his core, he is a Washington native who’s always longed to be back in the Evergreen State. His knowledge of both business and the Seattle marketplace, coupled with our existing relationships within the business community, presented a terrific opportunity to formally open Klinedinst Seattle.”

Klinedinst Seattle is located at 801 2nd Avenue, Suite 1100 in downtown. It is located within blocks of the United States District Court, Western District of Washington, as well as the King County Superior Court. It is also within 10 miles of Kirkland, Bellevue, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“As a Washington native, I can say without equivocation that it’s good to be home,” added Hensrude. “In addition to providing top-tier legal services for our clients, we are looking forward to being positive, contributing corporate citizens in the Seattle business and legal communities. We are open for business.”
