Gregor Hensrude’s article, “Does the Rise in Appellate Affirmation Rates in California Provide Insight into Changes in the Modern Justice System?” appears in the latest issue of PLUS Journal, the official publication of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
Gregor A. Hensrude
SEATTLE – PLUS Journal, the monthly publication of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, has featured Seattle shareholder Gregor A. Hensrude in its October, 2015 edition.
In the article, Mr. Hensrude analyzes data from the California courts of appeal, specifically on how affirmation rates have been climbing upward since the mid 1990s. Mr. Hensrude looks at the data in further detail, and how the data may portend trends in case settlement, as well as the way our modern justice system processes and disposes of cases.

SEATTLE – Klinedinst PC is very pleased to announce the official opening of its new Seattle location. Located in downtown Seattle, the office is led by Gregor A. Hensrude, and will serve business clients across the entire Pacific Northwest.
“We are incredibly pleased to be in our new Seattle home,” noted John Klinedinst, Founder and CEO of Klinedinst PC. “The entire Puget Sound region has an incredibly vibrant and diversified business community. Moving into Washington is a natural fit for us, given the complexity and sophistication of legal services that we provide clients.”
Previously, Klinedinst PC had four office locations, all situated throughout California. The firm started in 1983 in San Diego, and has grown to nearly 70 attorneys. Each of the offices is led by a managing shareholder who grew from within to hold that leadership position, and Seattle is no exception.
“As a firm, one of our core philosophies has always been to cultivate leaders from within,” added Klinedinst. “Gregor sharpened his skills in our San Diego office, and eventually rose to become one of our Shareholders. At his core, he is a Washington native who’s always longed to be back in the Evergreen State. His knowledge of both business and the Seattle marketplace, coupled with our existing relationships within the business community, presented a terrific opportunity to formally open Klinedinst Seattle.”
Klinedinst Seattle is located at 801 2nd Avenue, Suite 1100 in downtown. It is located within blocks of the United States District Court, Western District of Washington, as well as the King County Superior Court. It is also within 10 miles of Kirkland, Bellevue, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
“As a Washington native, I can say without equivocation that it’s good to be home,” added Hensrude. “In addition to providing top-tier legal services for our clients, we are looking forward to being positive, contributing corporate citizens in the Seattle business and legal communities. We are open for business.”

Klinedinst Attorney Thomas Daugherty presented an Employment Law Webinar on preventing class actions. The webinar, “Class Dismissed! Stopping Class Action Lawsuits Before They Happen,” was delivered on August 11, and August 13, 2015.
Thomas E. Daugherty, Esq.
SAN DIEGO – Thomas Daugherty hosted a webinar discussing the causes of class action lawsuits, and the best ways employers can avoid them. As part of Klinedinst’s ongoing KPC Employment Law Webinar Series, Mr. Daugherty provided attendees with practical guidance and tips on preventing class action litigation.
California employers must comply with a myriad of intersecting state and federal laws, and a simple clerical error can quickly lead to a potentially devastating and expensive class action lawsuit. In the gig economy, it has become increasingly difficult for employers to navigate the pitfalls that can lead to a class action lawsuit. Mr. Daugherty’s webinar addressed typical issues raised in employee class actions and the top ways for employers to prevent common mistakes and taking affirmative, preventative actions.
Mr. Daugherty provided attendees with specific tips to avoid a costly class action suit, while also warning against some of the common pitfalls that leave businesses subject to class action litigation. Some of the covered topics included:
Overtime violations;
Rest and meal break violations;
Wage statement violations;
Reimbursement violations;
Misclassification violations;
Binding arbitration agreements; and
Severance releases.
Due to growing demand for this webinar series, Klinedinst was excited to offer Mr. Daugherty’s webinar, “Class Dismissed! Stopping Class Action Lawsuits Before They Happen” twice, on August 11, 2015, and August 13, 2015.
Klinedinst congratulates Mr. Daugherty on his excellent presentations.
